rear toe ?

Okay, so I got my car aligned last weekend. I just assumed setting the rear toe to 0 would be fine for me since I do about 95% street driving. But then I looked up the rear toe spec in the manual and it's 3mm +/- 2. So 0 toe is actually a lot of toe out from spec! So I guess I should be expecting a lot of inside tire wear at this setting?

Anyone here run 0 toe in the rear care to comment about how their tires wear? I searched a few threads and it looks like 0 toe in the rear is a bit aggressive for street.

no problems with my car at all. Zero toe means the tire is pretty much aligned with the car's driving line, right? So I don't know how it would affect tire wear badly. I think the stock settings just make the car less agressive for "daily driving".. meaning "safer" for normal drivers and the crazy regular Evo drivers.

From looking at the EVO's rear suspension, it looks like our rear wheels toe out as the suspension compresses. That's why the spec calls out for 3mm toe in. While the car is moving down the road, the downforce generated causes the rear wheels to compress and toe out.

haha.. no, I'm just trying to understand why I got such good tire wear after my last alignment. Jack@Motorsport set my rear wheels to have .03"/.04" of toe-in. I just realized that .01" = .254mm, so 0 toe is actually not that far from being in spec.

just to throw a little more into the mix...

not only does toe change on compression but under throttle the rubber bushings
can also compress and give more toe in as the tires try to claw foward and in on
themselves.
this suspension $hit gets a bit messy to try to figure out

My tires seem to look good and no major areas of uneven wear. Well you have to account for all the damn potholes and bad roads we have in Detroit.

I actually saw these settings from track rats on this forum and i tried it, wanting to get rid of understeer and make the car a bit more neutral overall. So far... great! Just need to get on the track with the Advans on and see how good it really is. I'm still running my winter setup... stock size A/S Falken tires and slightly thinner Enkei (17x7.5) rims.

Any auto-xers have luck with the 0 toe setting?

I think most of the autoxers are running with 0 rear toe. Higher speed tracks and the guys are running a slight toe in. I'm using 0.18 degrees toe in, just a hair away from 0. A good alignment with stock equipment took 3 SECONDS off my average lap times!
