I've put about 22K on a set of these that came with the "stock" JIC settings (as opposed to the custom RRE set-up). The front springs were 10k in front and 9K in back; the damping was good, but far from great. After 22K miles the left front strut blew out and the strut top and bottom seperated as I removed the unit from the car.

I would have to say I was actually kind of disapointed with them. Enough so that instead of having them rebuilt I've ordered a set of Zeal Function Xs coilovers (with almost the same spring rates) to replace them. My main complaint was that it was almost impossible to dial the damping in correctly to cover the wide range of road conditions I drive on. They were good for about 95% of the roads I covered and did very well on the track, but on the last 5% of pavement I drive they completely sucked - after lots of tweaking they ended up being just tolerable.

I hear that the RRE set-up is MUCH better, and based on a talk with Mike at RRE, I can believe it. I strongly considered sending my blown JICs out to RRE for rebuilding and upgrades.

the newer ones have 9 and 8kg springs, and they're not bad if you set them kinda soft on the street. if you are a serious track nut, stay away from the stock jics.

How much does a coilover rebuild usually run?

I guess what I'm saying is that if you want to try the JICs, I'd plan on spending a little extra to get a set custom preppped by RRE. If you're willing to spend more, there may be a better solution out there.

I did strongly consider the Ohlins, but was turned off by the fact that they didn't appear to have independent ride-height and spring preload adjustments, instead using one function for both roles. They also didn't come with camber plates. Those are features I consider 100% essential in a "tunable" suspension.
