Slow ride, jwtodd60 has a point I would be knocked out of my stock class so I have actually changed my mind I am going to leave my Pilot Sport SP2's on the FNO1R-C's and us my stock 17x8 for my race wheels. That will give me the best fit for racing at 245/45or40/17.

I am not worried about the price diffy with the 2 tires does anyone have an opinion on which is better for Central NY asphalt? Remember in any day up here it can go from 55-75 degrees and visa versa.

VictoRacer V700 Shaved 4/32nds

or

Yokohama A032R Soft Compound

Jwtodd60, I cannot understand why anyone would want to go with a 18" rim wouldn't that make you slower at autoX?

From what I remember of CNY weather, you might be best off with Hoosier Radial Wets Seriously though, you might want to consider the Toyo RA1 (255/40), it's good rain tire, wears well, and doesn't give up much in performance to the Hoosiers and Kumhos. Rain considerations aside, I would probably go with the Victos.

As for 17" vs 18" the debate on that has raged on and off pretty much since the Evo hit the US. The basic tradeoff is sidewall height (shorther sidewall = better response) vs increased weight. Tire availability is another consideration. Anyway, most of the top ESP or SM Evos that I am aware of are running 18's, so you can draw from that what you will. I'm one the fence myself, I think I would run 17.5s

Yeah and that is moded like the cookies. I plan on staying in A stock and not spending 20-40K on mods. Not saying there is anything wrong with that

If they are anything like the A3S04s that I ran last year, you will need to run lots of air in them if you want to keep the shoulders on them. My typical pressures were in the low 50s up front; with that and a uprated front sway bar and flipping the tires after about 25 runs, I got around 35 runs total before I hit cord. That was better luck than I had with the Ecsta V700s, but I ran those with about 10 psi less and a softer front bar...
