New Hawk Pads Clicking -Help
I replaced the Brembo pads after they wore out (35K) with some Hawks pads from a shop that know Evos pretty well, so I'm pretty certain they are the correct application.
Ever since I replaced them, the rear pads click the first time you push the pedal then work normally untill you don't use them for a minute or two, then the click returns.
The sound is kind of like the rear power door locks are being locked. The brakes apppear to work ok, I've tested them pretty aggressively.
I thought that they just needed bleeding so I bled them today. It went away for a few trips around town today, but it is now back, just like before.
I noticed the the rear Brembo pads have as shim like label on them, that sat under the silver shim that comes off easily when you pull the pads, I am wondering if the Hawks need a similar additional shim. I tried to remove the label (shim?) to see if I could reuse them, but they are on there pretty good.
Again, I'm not talking about the shiny thin tin-ish shims that come off easily.
Anybody have any advice or similar experience?

The thing that doesn't make sense is it sounds like some do and some don't.
That's not an answer, that's a symptom.
The guy at Hawk told me to remove the silver shims, you know the ones everyone else says to reuse.
Maybe we can find out whether the ones that don't click left off the shims.

I used the same pads on my car. In the rear I did reuse the sticky shim and do not have any clicking. I hope that helps. By the why did you replace your fronts with the same pads? If so any squelling sound at all? That is what I am fighting now.
Thanks, I was afraid of that (no rhyme or reason to the ones that ckick yet)
I used copper high temp anti-seize paste. It the helped the squeeling a little. I think it might have more to do with knowing where to apply it, so I'm going to try and figure that out and may be re-do them.

I wish I could agree, but when the mfgr says that it's not supposed to occur, and many guys aren't experiencing it, it looks more like it's an anomally. It may be tolerable from a functional standpoint, but I don't think that it can be considered optimal perfomance. ( I acknowledge that it may be normal for some Hawks
At the very least it seems that maybe some of the rear Hawk pads might be shaped sligthtly different.
Had I known that it was just the nature of the beast (which I don;t think is the case) I would have looked for different pads.
I'm still nit ruling out my install, but I can't see anything that looks wrong about it. Maybe I'll find something as I try to figure this out.
The quest contuinues till I get to the bottom of why this is occurring.

I just installed the HPSs at all corners and no clicking or squeeling. Did you follow the instructions in the How To/Installations section of the forums? Did you put lubricant on the top and sideds of the pads where it comes in cotact with the calipers and spring?

Yes, step for step, as far as I know (I may have made a mistake but not that I can see)
I have done brakes on all my cars for many years, but that doesn't mean that I couldn't have missed something.
Did you use the "Brembo" labled tag that was stuck to the original pad as a shim? (We have established that I'm not talking about the shiny tin plate)

I just did mine last week -Hawks HPS pads on all four wheels. For each rear pads, I re-used both shims from the original pad (the one stuck to the pad, and the outer, metallic one). I cleaned them off thoroughly, and used plenty of Permetex Cu lubricant. I bedded the pads properly and (to my knowledge) did everything correctly.
I get the clicking too. In my case, it only happens when the brakes are cold, then it goes away. Also, it seems to be occurring less frequently now, compared to right after the brakes were done.
