Full size spare

Why aren't these cars and many others offered with full sized spares? I think it is ridiculous having to put on the donut! I would like to buy another OEM rim, mount a tire on it and lose some trunk space.

it would be cool if i didn't have to replace the tire twice (once for doughnut once for full size)
Auto companies just not up to it. (Weight maybe) i dunno tho

Go for it. Plus you'll be able to safely drive above 50 mph (what the spare max speed is rated). cost savings i'm sure is the main reason for a donut. plus if you think about it, the average car owner uses their spare very little, if ever.

A full size spare would probably not package very well in the floor with all the AWD hardware and suspension back there. And yup, it saves some weight too.
