In theory this setup should be "better" than the Mine's crossbar right?
why's that?

l thought the Mine's crosscar was for under the car. The same place the Cusco Ver.1 and Ver.2 bars go.

If the Mine's unit ties in 4 points of the trunk then it should in theory do the same thing. It is just personal preference. I just like the beefiness of the GT Spec unit and the bling. I can't seem to shake the feeling of needing some bling.

the mines bar is one piece... and doesn't bolt on to bars... it goes onto the towers... so it's a bit different.

I don't understand bracing the end of the trunk to the strut tower. I don't see where the benefit is, there are no suspension mounting points that far back in the chassis. Most of them mount to the rear subframe, forward on the chassis and the lower portion of the strut tower itself.

personally I wouldn't put money into it...Mitsu has already added a boatload of extra spot welds anyway

By tying the 4 mounting points together, you are essentially creating a flat plane between those for points.

This eliminates any flexing of the body between those points when there is load on the suspension and/or the body.

well... one piece ensures no clunking and no need to righten anything but where it mounts to.

Without any diagonal bracing all resistance to the two rhomboid distortions comes from the strength of the corner joints. Similarly for out-of-plane distortions. But then I still haven't seen any evidence of significant chassis flex in the trunk to begin with.

I'm sure there is some flex or Mitsu would not offer a brace for the RS. There is definately a difference felt in the car. Mostly in the form of the car feeling more "tossable". Maybe that is just in my head, but it seems that way to me and that is what counts

The part did install easy and I'm satisfied with it.

I have the same trunk cage installed in my car. Great piece! Perfect fit.

No clunking, and gives the car a more "solid" feel as JoeWalker put it.

Maybe, but it could also be marketing BS. I want to see real measurements of chassis flex and real differences in track times before I believe that this is for real.

I have a rear tower brace and don't think it makes a bit of difference. Next year when I have some good data acquisition I'll try some laps with and without. Call me ****-retentive (I'm German) but I might go so far as to double-blind it and have someone randomly take it out and put it back in between sessions!
