Tein S techs vs. H? Help Me!
Hey I put on the wheels this past weekend and the front seems a little high. The suspension is stock right now and im looking to lower it. From the picture, you guys tell me which one i should go for ok? The S or the H?
S - 2.0 in front and 0.9 in rear
H - 1.4 in front and 0.3 in rear


The rear seems to be fine but the front wheel gap is absolutely gi-normous so let me know what you guys think i should get.
I think im rubbing in the rear right now, very little though, on U turns only i think. I have 18X8.5 on 245/40s.

S-tech will slam the front alot more than the H-techs. One friend blew out his front strut(stock) from tracking with the s-techs. My other friend has 18's with the S-techs and they worked fine for him. If you go through alot of bumps or high driveways, stay off the s-techs.
I have hotchkis springs on my evo and I tend to scrape everywhere and they don't really drop the front as aggressively as the s-tech.

Don't buy either. Tein springs are too soft for the amount of drop they offer on your car. You will hit bump stops on rougher roads. Too many people don't realize that the lower you drop the stiffer things need to be since you are reducing the amount of travel in order to keep from bottoming out.

Full adjustable coilovers. Don't cheap out a 30k mechanical marvel built with thousands of man-hours of race and rally engineering with $150 drop springs.

really?? ok i think im gonna listen to you guys and beg the boyfriend to buy me some coilovers with his bonus... probably not but i'll try.

Here's my .02
I have the S-Tech's on my car. They look pretty good, but drop the car way too much IMO. I just bought 4 stock shocks from a budy because I think at least the fronts are toast. I will not replace them til I get soemthing else though.
I know of at least 3 poeple with the H-Tech's on thier EVO's and thier shocks are fine. The H-Tech's aren't near as close of a drop as the S-Tech's. One guy autocrosses his car on a regular basis and does VERY well with them. They are stiffer than the OEM springs.
The past two weekends I've taken rides in two of the EVO's mentioned above and there is a BIG difference on how they ride compared to mine. I can tell that thier stock suspension is fine.
I'll be buying some H-Tech's for my car once I get some money together. I'm not dropping a bunch of money on coilovers when it's my daily driver and do nothing but drive it back and forth to work. Certain springs are fine for your car. It just depends on what you mainly use it for.

First off
HOW DO THE H techs ride compared to stock
HOW DO THE S TECHS RIDE COMPARED TO STOCK
Honesty is the best policy i hear alot of mixed reviews about springs.
not for nothing, BUT i dont really like coilovers, i dont autocross my car nor do i ever plan too. So why would i spend 2k plus on a set of coilovers that im never going to use or take advantage of. Thats just common sense
i live in boston and im just looking for the best ride, The boston roads are the same if not worse than NYC and i would imagine that you would get you better ride with springs rather than coilovers,
And when are they going to make some aftermarket Shocks/struts for these cars?
Id love to have a set of the KYB AGX2s on my car.

I'm switching to coilovers next spring, but right now I'm running s'techs with 17x9 rims. tire size for me is 255/40/17. So far, I don't rub unless I drive like a complete jack@$$.

Mine ride amazingly well and the car seems just slightly more composed in the twisties than it did stock. No bottoming out with hard driving and no scraping if you have the slightest clue how to drive a lowered car, even on rough roads. I'm sure I'll go to a true coilover when my stock shocks die but there's nothing wrong at all with getting Tein springs for driveability and aesthetic appeal.
