New Hakkas?

Has anyone used the new Hakka RSi tire? I have used Hakka Q in the past on a different car, the RSi fits the Evo. Is this like a mediocre winter "performance" tire like the Dunlop M3 or more like the Blizzak WS-50?

from what i've been reading, since i'm between teh ws-50 and the rsi, is it's better than the M3 with regard to snow but not quite as good as the ws-50, but it lasts longer than the ws-50 and feels like the M3 when it's dry. i'm still stuck though

i believe the rsi is the replacement for the hakka q, as i too ran hakka q's on my last car

Crap, just got quoted $918 for a set of 4 RSi's mounted.

I don't think they can be worth that unless they last 4+ seasons.

They sound like the ultimate compromise tire,
now I have to decide whether I want decent driveability and tire wear, or good snow and ice traction. No other tire promises both...

Where are you getting those? We only have one local dealer for Nokians, kind of a monopoly.

through my brother's tire dealer, he works at a garage and called his dealer to ask about a price for the WS-50s and the dealer suggested the RSi, probably because there is a much bigger markup for him on them, and said he would match the price (i think, i was more concerned about the WS-50 price so i wasn't really paying attention at the time but i'll need to call back). I remember my brother mentioning the price of the tires regularly at $160 something each, which would still put them at a lower price than what you're being quoted

I can't find them anywhere for less than $200 each, I guess ~ $160 cost for the dealer might be right.

i'll call him either later today or tomorrow and respond with concrete prices. i know there was no mention of anything over $164 i think it was but who knows, i know i wouldn't get them for $20 less than what they typically cost the dealer so i'll check it out

the rsi's should be going on today, i loaned my car to my brother to get them put on after work. when he called his supplier back and said that he had told him $140/tire he said his supplier didn't remember saying that but we'll see, that's probably very close to what the supplier pays. they might end up at $150/tire. on ebay there were a few new sets going for $670 + shipping, might want to check them out. when i get them installed this afternoon i'll let you know how they feel on the dry, hopefully soon i'll be able to check them out on the snow

I went ahead and dropped cash for a set about a week ago. Yeah it's expensive but since I bought from a local shop they will mount/unmount/balance/rotate for free any time. Plus they will honor the 50,000 mile warranty and keep track of the mileage on the tires not the car. Buying online I think it would be hard to get the warranty honored.
Still haven't had real snow, but it was trying to yesterday!

You must live in the valley because we have got about 8" of snow since Sunday. I have not drove on the RSi's but I use the Hakka4's on both the Evo and the X5 and love them for winter driving. The Hakka4 are studded so unless you are in contant snow and ice you probably won't want them but I end up going to Bachelor about 3 times a week. If you lived closer or ever come to this side of the mountain I could get you good deals on them...I know the #2 guy for Les Schwabs and get tires for myself and friends I for just over cost. I got a set of Enkie RPF-1 with 255 RA-1's mounted for $1400 if I remember correctly. Anyways I do not think you will be disappointed with the Nokian tires but all tires are a compromise in one form or another. The Hakka4's are great for Bend but if I lived on the other side of the mountain I may have to think about the studless tire more.
