Steering vibration at 65-80mph.

Recently I have noticed more vibration coming from my steering wheel when cruising at 65-80mph (doesn't happen at lower or higher speed). I had my tires re-balanced and wheels checked out for bent lips and they were all okay. This problem started a couple months back after a track day, so I'm thinking it might be uneven wears on my tires. Any suggestion for what else should I look for?

Thanks,

BTW, the problem is more noticeable when the tires are cold.

Same exact situation here. Thinking maybe the bushings could have something to do with it, I don't know.

What type of balancer did they use? Does it measure tire runout and/or have a drum for road force variation?

You know, now that I think about it...I did lock a wheel when I was at the track, and since then I've had this slight vibration at 65-80. I noticed it when leaving the track, so maybe you are right...maybe it is uneven tire wear. I'm going to test it out when my almost-new winter tires are back on...

when You destroy Your tires on a track it should get worse when the tires get hot, rather then when they're cold... My experience is such at least...
but in fact it sounds like You've locked wheel for a while...

also check if the alignment is not too toe-out after visiting the track... this might lead to very uneven tire-wear which inturn may result in some vibrations even if the wheels are balanced.
But this way I'm sure You would notice Your car to be unpleasant to drive on motorways at high speed.

(btw. this is experience from subaru. I guess evo is so much better that it should not happen )

That makes NOOOO sence what so ever. When ANY tire is cold it will vibrate more. It does it everytime I get one the Highway Sunday mornin but after about 5miles vibration goes away. Hot Tires are softer mean less vibrations. Alignment will my premature wear but I dont think that is your problem with the vibration.

Well to make it clear.. on a hot day at a track, regular tires are prone to overheat and mine usually did... and that's when they started to make problems..
thats what I meant by "on a track it should get worse when the tires get hot"..
I didn't express myself clear. sorry.

It's not the tire wear, the tires i've got on my car only have about 5k miles on them, probally less. So I doubt its tire wear, i'm pretty sure its alignment.

Funny, I've noticed the same thing after a track day. Very strange indeed. It doesn't feel like a wheel balance issue. I've also noticed when going at higher rates of speed, it comes back and makes a lot of noise in the steering wheel. like around 120mph or so.
