Ok. I cant figure out how to compress the spring. It sounds easy but i cant get the compressor in the center of the spring. The bolt itself is longer than the spring. Is the compressor suppost to go through the outside of the spring? I've tried the outside but it dont work. HELP....

It goes on the outside.Place the compessors on opposite sides of the spring.you can only pull together two of the coils. The hooks will almost touch to get the necessary compression to allow removal of the top cap without it shooting across the garage.

Im assuming you are talking about two seperate compressors. The one they gave me is only one peice that i think is suppost to go through the center of the spring. Im beginning to think they gave me the wrong compressor. On the tein spring i can easily compress it using the center method. The part # is 27035 from autozone.

There is another compessor that is scissor-like which has only one threaded bolt. This type will compress the same.

Just looked looked at the autozone web site and found the tool your using.I see the dilemma with that tool.Mine work on the outside of the spring.I would ask them for this set http://www.autozone.com/in_our_store...pring_tool.htm
