Controlling Brake bias
Controlling Brake bias
Controlling brake bias with using 2 different set of differently spec. brake pads?
Anyone ever tried this?
I have bobcat on the front and HP+ on the rear. My rear seem to be rock solid now where before with the same set of pads (project mu-b-force) I could twitch the rear end a bit (or a lot if I tried).
I tried to control the handling by differentiating cambers front and back, but I would like to have a lot more camber on the rear than what I have now.
Front: left -1.8 right -1.9
Rear : left -1.0 Right -1.0
I guess I'm trying to find out if it would be wise for me to have track pads on the rear and semi-track pads on the front, then it'll even out putting more camber on the rear to have the car feel neutral.
Because my car is very neutral with that camber setting, lowered on Espelir ASD springs and Hotchkis Rear sway bar set at High.

It all depends on application, but different compounds F/R is common practice. I run that way.
Track pads eat rotors aggressively. Make sure you use a street pad on the street. There really is no way around swapping pads for the track. Street pads will not hold up on the track.
That being said, there are some “crossover” pads that will perform somewhat on both the street and track, but they are a compromise either way.
As for properly setting camber, it requires testing and analysis of the suspension geometry and behavior of the car. A skidpad is a good tool…and it can be done with other tools as well. Anything else is just a guess.
