Cutting rotors

I have about 19500 miles on my 03. I am going to put on all new pads and lines but I feel like my rotors might be in bad shape. I am getting a horrible scapping noise in the front(sometimes) and rear passanger side. The pads still have life on them, I had the wheels off and checked.

Does anybody know a professional shop in NYC or NJ or Tri-State, that can cut them professional? I know that if you are going to cut the rotors u need somebody with experience to do this because u can only take a ver very little amount. Any suggestions would be great.

Get them turned. Any brake shop should be able to do it.

Dont turn them unless you are getting the pedal vibration. "Warping" Is BS. The scraping is a sign of the pads being worn. Read these:

Turning is a proces that removes material from "warped" (in actuality the rotor doesn't warp, it just wears unevenly causing lumpy braking and ridges) rotors, giving them a new, flat surface again. Like feld said, you shouldn't get them turned unless you're getting vibration, but it sounds like you may not be far off. The scraping may just be some glazing on the pad or some debris getting inbetween the pad and the rotor, but it's really hard to say...especially over the intarweb.

Are your pad and rotor surfaces clean? Were the pads properly bedded or are they still the stock pads?

My pads are still stock, I am going to change them to Feredo DS2500 with Stoptech Brake Lines.

*Actually I remember when speed are over 120mph or something like which is very very rarely, I would get some vibration.

With that mileage I would measure your rotors first. After cutting/turning them you may be very close to the minimum thickness.

My car at 22,000 miles is in the same predicament as yours, some vibration under braking. I'm just dropping in new rotors since the old ones are too thin to cut.

my rotors were resurfaced at 15000 miles with the installation of new pads, becuase there was a little vibration, but now i have 21000 miles on the car and when i brake i get more vibration than before, i use hawk pads front and rear, honestly i'm going to have to install new rotors with oem pads because i think resurfacing them again will eventually make the problem worst...

you know, there are not that much rotor meat on our stock evo rotors.

I would suggest measuring after you resurface to see how much you have left.

the min for the front is 1.2 inches (? i think), 0.82 for the rears. If it goes below that you'll have some "issues".

Well I decided just to get new rotors all-round. I got them from RotorsPro due very positive reviews from people that have tracked them and used them as daily drivers. Also if I am really going to get into tracking my car, I am going to get the two-piece rotors for the front.

thread revival, which design did you go with from rotorspro? Drilled and slotted? Drilled only? Slotted only? Dimpled and slotted? Anyone else have any other prior experience with rotorspro?

TIA
