Sti vs Evo braking power

For those who have driven both sti and evo's do you think the Sti brakes better...I drove a Sti today and the braking was unbelievable....The ower swore by them and said they brake better then the Evo's. Is this cause by brakes arent broken in yet or does the sti just brake better?

They have almost the exact same brake setup, lookup the specs and you will see.

I own both and found them to be almost exact. It has been written that the IX's have a spongier feel, but they perform great.

There is a difference between pedal feel (firmness), easy of modulation (ability to fine tune braking force easily) and braking performance.

When I first got my Evo I was disappointed in the braking feel compared to my 540i (which has the firmest pedal outside of a Porsche or full race car I've driven), until I pushed it; then the ease of modulation and performance made themselves known.

You'll need test equipment (or magazine reviews that used test equipment) to tell the difference (if any) between the performance of the STi vs. the Evo's brake system. But it only takes one stop to notice a difference in pedal feel.

I'll take the Evo's ease of modulation over the firmness of the 540i's pedal any day. I can't tell much difference between the Evo and STi.

I’ve had both cars, and I have to say they are so close its not even funny, pedal feel between the 04 STI I had and the IX RS I have now is close, the Evo is softer in the initial pedal travel while reverse on the STI I had. The biggest difference I have seen is the amount of brake dust produced by the Evo is way higher then the STI. pushed hard (glowing rotors) they both come close, even that hard of driving, so very close, in the end, its like Red Apples and Green Apples, both are the same thing, but different colors w/ slightly different flavor. Now as for the new STI, I couldn't tell you if anything has changed. In the end I like the modulation of the brakes on my EVO more, but that’s about all I can tell in difference (at least with the brakes on both cars )
