warped rotors

My 9 just has over 2500 miles and the front rotors are warped. Does Mitsu warranty rotors if they are warped or should I just by some better rotors?

I had my rotors replaced under warranty at 5K miles. Some dealerships will do it and others won't. Be polite and ask nicely. It's worth a try.

.

I had my rotors replaced under warranty at ~22000 miles, but I still had to pay for the replacement of the brake pads. However, I've been a long time customer at the Mitsu dealership that I take my car to. I didn't go in asking to have it warrantied, the service manager said up front that he would first see if the regional/district rep. would allow the warranty of it. Being nice goes a long way.

Good luck

Only 2500 miles on the car? What were you doing? Are you sure that the rotors are warped? Brake pad compound can adhere in a rotor and make the rotors feel as they are warped.

Rotors almost never warp, stoptech dispells all the brake myths on their site and they claim to only have seen one or two cases of it happening on race cars.

Its most likely brake deposits, in which case have either a reputable mechanic cut them for you or bring them into the dealer and have them do it.

I've personally machined the rotors on 3 of my cars and trucks. The rotors in fact do actually warp. I didn't machine off brake deposits... it was steel. High performance race car rotors are one thing but, street rotors that experience street conditions (like water puddles that will splash up and cool off one end of a rotor unevenly) will definately experience conditions that will warp a rotor if you get them heated up. Unfortunately, I don't think that machining a Brembo rotor is recommended.

My dealership turned mine and they are fine now. Pads were still good. This was done at about 34,000 miles for $130 on the front only. Pricey, but less than a new set.

I asked my dealer the other day when I was in, and they said normal wear items are covered for 12,000 miles (clutch, brakes, bulbs, etc).

My 04 warped at 25,000 miles. The dealer wouldn't replace so I went with aftermarket and hawk brake pads. Braking now is better than stock!!!

I've seen people many times thinking their rotors were warped when in fact their tires were cupped or flat spotted.

Warping brembo rotors are hard to do. Even these stocker OEM ones. I'd be suprised to see them actually warped.

I would argue that the brakes are, ofcourse, brembo...but the rotors NOT... is there anyway to distinguish the rotors.... who says they cant be regular low quality, rotors that are made for the brembo brakes...?

^^^ I could have sworn the whole brake sytem is provided to Mitsu by Brembo. Or at least the rotors, pads, calipers, pistons, etc are.
