question about brakes

I went to the dealer to get the low down on my my brakes(squeeking). My rears went out for the second time(46,000 mile) so I threw on some other pads about two weeks ago ala the squeeking. They could not tell me what was wrong with my rear brakes. They said that everything is fine but there has to be something wrong. So, I would like to ask you guys why my rears would wear out much quicker than the fronts?. Oh, i also found out that the rotors are done with and I will be purchasing 4 non oem ones to save some cash. Thanx for the help.

My rears go out faster than my fronts sometimes, maybe because of the electronic brakeforce distribution. Squeeking has been addressed here, and the consensus seems to be plenty of Permatex copper anti-seize (can be found at NAPA and other places) ensuring to use both the metal shim and factory organic shim found glued to the back of the OEM pads.

Umm... u sure about that? A majority of the braking is done with the front brakes on our front heavy evo's. I have to replace my fronts 2-3 times more frequently than the rears.

A lot of people do report the rears wearing more quickly. I figure it depends on how you brake. With EBFD if you brake like you're on a track, hard and quick, the system senses the weight transfer and will cause more of the braking work to be done up front. If you "street brake" long and easy the braking is more evenly distributed and with much smaller pads in the rear they'll tend to wear quickly. I try to hit a dozen or so track days a year and I go through 2-3 sets of fronts to 1 rear too.

I just replaced my rears, and my fronts were still ok. I replaced with hawk pads. they were squeaky for about 3 days while I i was breaking them into the rotors.
