Tire size question

I have decided to get the new Falken Azenis 615. I have an 03 gsr. Will a 255 40 size tire fit the stock enkei's or will I have to run a 235 or upgrade my wheels? Thanks.

mechon98 - The Falken 615's are one of the 'wider than advertised' sized tires (as with the Bridgestone Potenza S03). With your current wheel being a 17x8 inch wheel, the recommended ideal size is 235 45 17.

By going wider your tire will be more prone to sidewall flex. Many believe that is the reason the 'wider than advertised' tires are the, SUPER STIFF SIDEWALLED, 615 and S03.

235 45 17 will be your best choice if you were to go with the 615's. By going with the Falken 615 (very stiff sidewall) you will be able to go wider than the conventional 235 width tires.

The 615's do not come in 235/45/17, I just ordered a set today and had to go with 245/45/17.

After a little more research I decided to call up Discount Tire and I changed my order to the 255/40's. A few people have put these tires on the stock rims and say that it does not cause any major problems.

they ran fine on my car the tires didnt flare out or anything didnt have sidewall flax but they are crappier than the stock yokos but thats obvious considering tread wear.. try them out you'll like them and the fill up the wheel well better.. the only reason people say so much about it is when they actually compete in big competitions then people just take the tire sizes out of perportion... i didnt spell that right... lol
