Brembo Question

Ok I just Got home from a small Gathering, And Too many VW for my taste. But anyway to the Point. There Was an STI there 2004. He Saw my Brembos and Was like those look simalar to mine, And low and behold (new news to me) It apears the STI and Evo brembos look identical But, being a Mechanic, I know looks can be deceiving. BAsicly i want to know if they are the same caliper, and if the sti guy can put some Red Evo calipers on his car, thats why he was soo interested in know. I told him They look very similar, but i wasn't sure if they were the same. But just to satisfy my own curiosit Are the Evo Brembos and STI brembos the Same (excluding Color)?

Not totally sure if they're the same or not, but everything ive read as far as performance comparisions between the 2 cars the Evo always has better braking feel and doesnt fade as much compared to the STi's. It could just also be the pads though. Just passing on what i know.

They also have completly different pedal feel being the Evo less vulnerable to fatigue..

Evo brakes in size:

BrakesFront:12.7-inch Brembo ventilated
disc, four-piston calipersRear:11.9-inch Brembo ventilated
disc, two-piston calipers

STI brakes in size:

Brakes Front:12.7-inch vented discs, Brembo
four-piston fixed calipersRear:12.3-inch solid discs, Brembo
two-piston fixed calipers

they are spaced different they mount different, i think have different piston sizing. They will not bolt directly on. And the brake bias would be changed if you did mount them.

The only thing they share is the name and the pad.

I don't think any parts are interchangeable from mitsu to subaru without modifications...

I believe the same Brembo system is used on the STi, Evo, and 350Z. You may wanna double-check that, but that's what I've heard.

As for stopping distances, I can't comment, but I can tell you that the STi's brakes put off horrible amounts of dust.

Wrong, my cigarette lighter fit a STI, no modification was needed.

Definitely there is a Lot of brake dust, it kinda gets annyoing, I wipe my wheels down every 1 or 2 days. I hate it when someone is driving around with a Dirty car, expecialy when its a Fellow Evo, but Its not like I can go and tell them to wash it but I just wished they would. Ohh Well I keep my Evo Clean.

The only thing shared between the EVO calipers and STi calipers are the pad shape. Different mountng points and different pistn diameters.
