brake pad questions...

hey i was looking for brake pads cuz my stock rear pads are squealing, dealer said it was normal. but its freakin annoying. so my question is, is it ok to have different brand of brake pads between front and rear? and also has anyone used axxis ultimate brake pads? any info? seen it on gruppe-s for $59(rear) if not recommended then i will probably go with project mu ns... thanks for any input

Before someone says "search," performance brakes squeal....get used to it. If its REALLY bad, you should rebed them. Before you run out and spend $$ on Project Mu pads, they are going to squeal too. Otherwise go get some autozone brake pads and INCREASE your braking distance.

I suggest only running OEM pads... if you've got OEM calipers, use OEM pads.... don't mess with that design

I agree with the guy who said rebedding the pads. Also, you might want to uninstall the stock pads and shims and spray all of the metal parts and shims down (except the rotors) with a good anti-squeal brake spray and then re-install them. Any kind of performance pads are going to make noise. The stockers are actually quiet by most standards. I would just save your money and use up your stock pads before replacing them. You should be happy once you spray everything w/ the anti-squeal spray. Good luck!

Yea, I've got a good friend that restores Euro cars for show & racing... he races a '66 Jag XKE and tunes all kinds of Euro race cars... when it comes to brakes, his rule is.... OEM calipers use OEM pads.

An "endless brake pad" what? I figure its got something to do with http://www.endlessusa.com/ but since their site says something to the effect of:

reflection of our products nor our brand image.

Thers plenty of pads out there that work way better than them stock Brembo pads. Those pads suck IMO. They stop fine but make alot of noise, create alot of brake dust, are double the cost and ware out quickly and uneven.

Go with Hawk (Non Race for street), Project Mu, Ferrodo. All are way better than stock

The spray is disc brake quiet it can be found at any parts store. For street driving you could have went with the the HPS which are the street pads Hawk sells they are real quiet and also way better than stock pads

You should apply some of the anti-squeal stuff on the back of the bad. A lot of times the squealing is from the pad vibrating, so you need the anti-squeal on the back to damp the vibration. As far as which pad, I use Hawk HPS on my teg and they never ever faded. However, they obviously had a higher operating temperature than oem pads and therefore needed to warm up a little to reach their optimal operating temp. OEM pads are fine AS LONG AS you dont plan on exceeding their operating temperature with your braking habits. If you do get the pads too hot and they start to fade than the OEM pad is no longer reaching your braking needs and isnt the best choice. Hawk HPS for performance street, the PLUS however is for straight track use. And the stuff you spray on the disk itself mostly only works for a short period of time then stops, I don't recommend it at all. I used to work at advance auto parts and every single person that got the disc spray came back saying it didnt do ****.
