Coilovers Question
Coilovers Question
Okay fellow EVO owners. Before I go on with my question, let me first say that I DID do a search on what I'm going to ask, but came up with NOTHING. So, I'm in the market to buy some coilovers for my EVO. I came up w/ good info on a bunch of different types by different makers like Tein, Apex, BC, etc.
However, I was wondering if any of you have any feedback on Greddy and D2 coilovers. These two aren't that badly priced in comparison to others, so I'm asking if anyone has any personal experience with these at all. Any personal experience with these two manufacturers coilovers would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah... I'm considering Tein. There's a place out here in VA that's selling Greddy coilover for a real good price. I'm wondering if anyone has them. I would think that they would be good considering that Greddy is a very reputable company with the majority of their products.
As for D2, I believe that they are European made coilovers. These are mostly used in VWs, BMWs, Audis, etc.

Designed for the optimum balance of traction, comfort, and adjustability, the new GReddy Type-S suspension kits offer the finest features like: large 46mm dia. pistons in a Mono-tube shock, 32-way adjustable damping, adjustable base and spring perches, thick billet upper mounts, and a lightweight coil springs. Instead of the common heavy spring rates, that offer harsh rides and easily loose traction on bumpy American roads, Type-S systems utilize a relatively softer spring with a longer stroke to maximize traction on race tracks or on the street. An added benefit of this is also a comfortable ride for the street.

i was talkin to the guys over at TurboTrixRacing and i was askin about the Teins.. they told me to go with the D2 coilover kit, they have been runnin it and have been getting better performance and better ride than tein. PM them ask about it
I havent really heared anything about the d2s, I am currently running tein basics. when I start tracking my car however I plan on switching them out for APEXi coilovers, and seeing how they perform. The basics that I have are great for street driving, a good amount of drop with a quality stroke length. I do not experience any bump and they are not to harsh for the extremely bumpy roads in my area.
But for the track I would imagine that they would be to soft.

Sorry, this is not a post about personal experience, but FYI, the Greddy and A'pexi EXV (only that model from A'pexi, others are made in-house AFAIK) are made by BC Racing, and so are the Megans.
Noob4Life is correct, the D2 that makes the coilovers you are thinking of is a taiwanese manufacturer, which could also be BC Racing. The D2 associated with european touring cars is a european phone company that sponsors race cars, not a suspension manufacturer.
Slowride is also right, figure out your needs and budget first, then choose a coilover accordingly. You are mentioning brand names, not models, so its hard for people to help you if you are vague. Look at what kind of driving you do, how much you are willing to spend, what spring rates you want, then you can narrow down your models. Tein offers coilovers from $800 to $3800, so you need to be more specific.
I am guessing that you are probably looking for a street-friendly suspension for $1500 or less?
