Was somewhat stuck in the snow...

hey everyone...

just needed some feedback on my recent mishap...yesterday - we got a major snowfall here and I was driving my evo through the badly plowed streets of indy...there was a spot where there was bit too much snow and got a little stuck - but a little back-forward-back got me out - I didn't get really stuck that bad - when I hit the bad patch my tires couldn't grip so I had to back up go forward ...

So now, my steering wheel shakes like crazy after going past 50mph on the eway - alignment problem? any input would be greatly appreciated - I do plan on taking it to the tire shop tomorrow (sears, firestone)

might be just the alignment...can't be sure though. but since you're taking it to the tire shop they'll prolly diagnose the same thing.

it's the snow/ice built up in your wheel wells. knock it out and the vibration will be gone. it gets worse at high speed, as tires expand as you go faster, making more contact with built-up ice.

i was thinking about the snow and ice in the wheel well - was going to rinse it off, but it just so frigid didn't want to chance it...hopefully it's just the snow and ice in there - I would think our evos are more durable than that...

Wow I never got stuck even on 2 foot snowdrifts. What kind of tires do you have?

My guess too. I had it happen to me after the snow from a little over a week ago. Knocked the ice out of the rims and it was smooth driving again.

Yup, defenitly snow/ice buildup in the rims. It happend to my son with his WRX yesterday. SO I pulled the G35 out of the heated garage and we put his car in fopr like 8 hours. Problem solved!!!!!!

sounds like everyone agrees its snow packed somewhere... so if you have a heated garage.. park it in there and let it melt and youre good to go

if u hit a curb or a ditch then there's a chance u messed up your alignment, but if u didn't it's just snow in ur wheels.

yea packed onto the rims makes a lot of sense. don't you think the heat from the brakes would melt that? um yea it would. it's in the well right by the side skirt most likely.
