Brakes, brakes, brakes, brakes.

And a good alignment.

A rear sway bar DOES increase front grip....it doesn't just reduce rear grip. The loss of rear grip (which the car has plenty of from the factory) is minimal compared to the gain in front grip (which it could always use a little more of). That's where the decrease in understeer comes from. Overall grip improves.

Regardless, just track the car with good pads and fluid for now.....the car will exceed your expectations (and skills) just like that.

I'll trust Paul Gerrard on the rear sway discussion. It is not proper to attempt to increase grip in front by stiffening the rear with a rear sway bar.

Guys, 03-04s had an open diff, but the 04 RS was the first version to come with an FLSD. It's the only 04 that has one...

Fair enough.

Definitely correct on the 04 RS having the only front LSD that year....as I go look for an unmangled used one with low miles in white with no mods.....

What about a less stiff front sway bar compared to stock?

That's popular on FWD cars....I'm not a fan of it on EVO's mostly because the camber curve is not so hot with the front struts. As the car rolls, you lose negative camber, and removing the front sway or installing a smaller one will result in more roll and thus more negative camber loss. What you gain from having a softer front sway is lost from the extra roll and negative camber loss.

Custom coilover set-ups can get fancy with smaller swaybars and stiff *** springs to make up for it, but that's not something you would want on a street car.

No problem. A Stock class auto-x guys even go with bigger front swaybars while keeping the rear stock (it's all they're really allowed to do). At the limit, it does understeer more, but maintaining that front camber does help before you reach that point. Better turn in is nice too. It sure is a pain to install though.

thnx guys for all your responses. aren't front STRUT bars pretty cheap? Will that coupled with the 210's and hotchkis rear sway be a pretty good set-up? i mean, i don't want to make my car handle worse. and i'm getting the spring for really cheap so it isn't that bad of a buy. i could sell/give them to a buddy when i get the coil-overs. thnx again guys for all your help. i really appreciate it

No, man, it won't be a good setup. I keep saying it over and over. You're just throwing things together that don't go together. Why are you not listening? WE've said to get brakes and leave the suspension alone until you have the money to put the PROPER PIECES TOGETHER. Just slapping on $200 parts because they're cheap is not the way to go. For the cost of springs, rear sway, and front strut tower bar (we already have one, btw), you could just about get a set of Megan Coilovers. I can't imagine why you would rather piecemeal your suspension and end up with something that doesn't work as opposed to a full set of coilovers that can be aligned, tuned, and corner weighted while also getting your ride height right where you want it.

Because some people never take advice from others. They just want confirmation, not suggestion.

I however do appreciate Warrtalon's excellent and no non-sense post. I will make my first real mod brake pads, fluid and stainless lines. Thanks!
