exceeding stock evo susp.
I agree, a high performance driving school will make more difference than ANY modification. Trust me after you go to a few schools and events you will feel like a totally different driver. You dont need a fast car to be fast. If you can drive an evo at its limits you will be faster then 98% of people out there. I use to think I new the limits on my car from driving on streets, its totally different when you get on a track and have a professional instructor telling you what your doing wrong. Once you can truely drive your car at its limits you will find minor modifications make a big difference (ie air pressure, tires, alignment) But thats my 2cents

if anyone has anymore good links of schools i would love them! this post turned out perfect in my eyes (i guess cause my esumptions were correct) and i didnt have anyone tell me to get lowering springs or a set of $5000 coilovers
thanks guys and i hope to see someone (including myself) at somekind of event soon
I would say that improving your driving is extremely important relative to the capability of the car. In fact, you should find the worst handling turd out there to learn to drive on.
Great handling cars mask up the errors of the driver. Not only that, but the limits are so high that when you really mess up and go past the handling limit of the car, you're really screwed. Exceeding the handling limit of a Z06 by doing something stupid is much worse and less forgiving than exceeding the limit of a corolla.

Bellmawr, huh? I used to live in Cherry Hill myself...Since you are in South Jersey there is a autox school coming up in a few weeks down in Maryland that should be worth the trip. Its not an Evolution school though. Check http://autox4u.com/wdc.htm
Also, the autox4u.com website is a good one to follow for events in your area. You might also want to contact the South Jersey SCCA autocrossers as well for local schools.
For HPDE (track) events, I would suggest the BMWCCA (Delaware Valley Chapter and NJ chapters will be local to you). Also there is NASA which is run by PDA in the northeast region, as well as the Audi club, and a number of others (you dont need an Audi or BMW to go out with those clubs).

As you can see there are a lot of options. Autocross is generally cheaper (even the schools) and is a great way to learn car control in a relatively low speed environment, though it doesn't feel slow by any means. Might be a good idea to do a school and a few events before heading to an HPDE. Have fun...

how long ago did you live in cherryhill? been in good old b-town my whole life except for what i like to call acouple of tours to chicago for school and work!
i wonder if i could get any deals with the bmwcca since im a bmw employee? i'll have to look into that! thanks again!
how many people on the street feel that they have exceeded the stock evo susp?
i have a few minor susp. upgrades... rear sway bar, frnt. lower tie bar
but as much as i would like my car to sit a little lower and make me a better driver
i dont think im a good enough driver to need any thing!
yea im ok but anyone who drives an evo for a couple of months becomes a better driver, not good just better than some old dude drivin a caprice clasic
i would like to get input on the mods they have been night and day difference, maybe something i havnt relized my car is lacking! i really think were my money would be best spent is driving school!!!!!

Only worth it if you take your car to the track. I know when I got my function X it was a night & day difference overstock..I wouldn't have gotten coils if I was just going to drive it on the street (waste of money) I would instead look into some springs ie.. swifts

Yuengling is available in 9 states I think. I took the tour of their facility last year.
"until you've gone 130 down the back straight on a road course, then threshold braked down to 40 before making a hard right en route to a 10-turn course, then you haven't even begun to scratch the surface."
Damn! I bet that gives the brakes a workout!
not to mention turns w/ - elevation changes. This spring I'm attending a few local driving schools. I feel it will be the best $ ever spent.
