I'm running the same set-up, 245-40-17's on stock VIII wheels. They seem a little loud but not excessively. They do have fairly large tread blocks so some noise is expected.

I don't know about loud - they are quiet compared to the RE-070s' I had

IMO they are all but useless on track though - they sucked in the dry and the wet.

I'll never buy them again.

Sorry if that is negative - I was just pretty darn displeased at the track.

Really, seems alot of people like them after they wear in a bit, how long did you have them. I heard they really wake up after 1-2k miles.

I put them on late last summer.

For the highway they might be ok - they are 'comfy' for a summer tire.

But they are no comparisaon to something like your stock Advans or in my case RE-070's

i thought the MXs were a really decent tire for the track. the only problem i ran into was i oversized the tire for the stock rim. i ran 255x40x17 and had the laden tire "chunk". but this is not specific to the MX as DEVO330 had the same problem with his oversized tire on the 8in rim at the same track, same day.

here is a video from my car with the MX's on the car... http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y34...t=EVOvsZ06.flv

the MX's for me lasted slightly longer then the stock advans. i got 12k on the first set of advans, and 12k on the second set. the MX's lasted about 15k with 5 track days + autocrossing.

as for loudness, yes i thought the MX's were pretty loud. so loud in fact, once they wore out and i put some all season ASX's on, i turned the volume of my radio down about 6 knotches for highway cruising. i'm going to a second set of rims with RA-1s for the track now and using the ASXs for Daily driving.

and the MX's SUCK in the rain when they are somewhat worn in. hydroplaning all the time in heavy rain. the ASXs are solid in the same conditions.

Nice driving...little OT but is the suspension in that video the one you have in your sig, it seems to handle real well.

yeah, its the JIC FLTA2's lowered about an inch from stock, and the hotchkis rear sway.

*edit - one other thing to note about the MX's, when you over size them like i did the sidewall is noticablely softer then the stock advans. this does effect performance a bit, as you can feel a much bigger slip angle then with the MX's in turning, and the tires don't feel as "rigid" as the advans either. i guess the best way to describe it is, at the limit in a turn it feels sort of soft and squishy comparatively. they still handle really well though, and i can't stress enough the fact that i over sized them to much was a bad thing with the MX's. i know with a narrower tire it would have driven better yet.
