Best Rotors???

Hey, I have an 03 Evo, and im getting to the point where breaks are going to be needing replaced. I am having trouble deciding what kind of rotors to get.

I was looking to get something like slotted rotors, since i am throwing money at them might as well get something better and a lil cooler. I was looking at the Sloted Brembo Sprot Rotors, but im having a hard time justifying the price.

I was wondering if there were any opinions about the EBC rotors. Their rotors are slotted and "dimpled" not drilled all the way thorough.

I was also planning to use the EBC Green or Red stuff (since I had the green stuff and they seemed to work well)

Any opinions would be apriceated.

go w/ Powerslot, they are great quality, more resistance to rust and great stopping power if you want to spend a lot of money go w/ racing brake 2 piece rotor, if not, Powerslot.

Performance Friction or Giro Disc

Both are great options for the stock calipers..

Do a search there's a lot of info on upgrading the rotors, pads, lines, and fluid..

That should be plenty for 99% of Evo owners..

Performance Friction has a great product i would recommend them. If you wanted just a replacement rotor Centric has them avaliable for pretty cheap.

You may want to consider RacingBrake rotors as well. Very affordable and high quality stock replacements. I've been running them with great success on an Evo VIII and 2G DSM. TPM, the parent company, has been making braking components for 18-wheelers for decades, so they know all about high-heat braking applications and endurance.

I have the Stoptech slotted and cross-drilled front and slotted rears.. and they are awesome.. dont forget your SS lines and good brake pads.. I use Hawk street and they are fine. They are reasonable in price and you use stock everything else.. Good luck though.. all IMHO..

It all depends on what you want. I have used the stock rotors through 35k of daily driving, 10 track days, 16 autoX's. Granted, I heated them up pretty good (1100+ ºF) but they survived.

I now have racing brake two piece slotted rotors, SS lines, Ferrodo DS2500s, and the brake duct cooling kit (of course, high temp fluid). This setup is great. They keep everything a lot cooler than stock. I have had no brake or pad fade or boiling brake fluid.

If you're just daily driving, stock is fine (maybe with some high temp paint to rust proof the hub). If you want to DRIVE, then prepare to spend some money on keeping the brakes cool - two piece is the way to go. DON'T get cross-drilled, because they WILL crack. My 2 cents...

If you don't race, just get powerslots or dba slotted 1-piece.

The 2-piece are more than twice as expensive and if you're not going to take advantage of the performance they offer, then why spend the money?

Brembo Sport rotors are a rip-off, btw.

I second Racing Brake slotted rotors.....I have RB slotted rear rotors and Brembo stockers up front.....I had the dealer replace the stock fronts with the Brembos since it was at the dealership and I couldnt wait several days for aftermarket ones to come in on a brown truck.....I run Hawk HPS pads all around and am very happy with them.....very affordable too...oh yeah...i have Goodridge (sp?) SS brake lines all around too...

I've been looking into the same thing. It seems like there are three price points, really cheap like 350 plus for a car set, to 850 for some brembo drilled or slotted, to 1600 for two piece rotors. While the price is a lot, the two piece is the best type of rotor, and Martin from Gyrodisk has been incredible with his customer service. He sent me some pictures and prices. Send him a pm and see if he can help you out.
