HELP! asap... rotor question

I decided to jump into the rotor/pad/ss line install tonight. And it hasnt been a fun journey... After realizing that I have just about ruined my hard line flare nut, I decided to give up on the ss line install, and just do the rotors/pads while I had the car in the air. Im working on the last corner, and wtf, the rotor is black. The rest are shiny, with a machined cross hatching, and the rear pass side is black, w/ no cross hatching. Did they miss the machining process? Should I install it? Or should I go back to stock rear rotors? If I go back to stock rotors, do I put the stock pads back on them? Please help. My car is in the air, Id really like to get it back on the road tonight.

Thx
CB

Put the stocks with stock pads back on the rears, send the unmachiened rotor back to the vendor and demand a new one for free for time wasted.

or u can just call em up and tell them to send u a new pair of rotors. they wont charge u anything n u prolly wont even have to send back the first one. so u'll save some shipping.
a friend of mine ordered f+r rotors for his corvette and they sent the wrong size front rotors, so he called em up n they sent him 2 more rotors for free without even asking for the old 1's back. now thats service!

good luck

Yeah, Im sure they will take care of it, either way. I put the stock rotors/pads back on the rear. I was a little frustrated at that point anyways. I also managed to strip out the hard line going to the banjo bolt on the fr/pass side. So Im going to parts store tomorrow to see what I can get. Im not touching any of the rest of them, until I can get a flare nut wrench, and possible the means to replace the stripped flare nut. My roommate is letting me keep it in the garage over night, so thats cool. Im going to call the vendor tomorrow, and see what happens. Should be no less than a week. I figure the rear rotor/pad install will be cake now that Ive done it so many times. I was planning to AutoX this weekend. I may still do it, with the stock setup in the rear.

anyone know if I can possibly replace the stripped nut without having to run a new hard line? It looks like there may be about 1/4-1/2" of slack in the line.

Thx for moving this to the appropriate section.

I called the vendor this morning. They called Stoptech. Stoptech says that the "newer" rotors have a black coating on them, and the coating will come off when I bed the pads the first time. Im still going to contact Stoptech, personally, before I install them. The vendor says they will take care of it, if anything messes up. Now to fix the flare nut......

I made the same mistake on my friends car of not using a flarenut wrech to remove one of his brake lines. Those nuts are incredibly soft and a box wrench will round them up in no time. Luckily a vice grip made it come out very easily.

It might be 1:30 am, but at least the job is done... I installed the rear rotors/pads, replaced the flare nut, installed the ss brake lines and clutch line, and blead the whole system (brakes twice). I owe my buddy a few beers, to say the least. I didnt bed-in the pads yet. The weather is crappy, and it soo late. Im leaving her on jackstands over the night, and checking for leaks tomorrow (got newspaper underneath all connections, due to a few spills during install). Hopefully all goes well.

Oh, and the guy at Stoptech told me that the black finish would most definitely rub off after a couple miles. But in the end, will act the same and look the same as the others.

Thx for the help
