Rim & Tire question

This has probably been beaten to death around here but I'm looking for some new rims and want the bronze gram light 57s. I want to move up a size in height and width with a 18x8.5. What is the largest tire I can run without rubbing or rolling fenders? Offsets that don't need spacers and what not?

265 would probably cause problems normally.

Beyond a 255 gets pretty hairy usually. A 255 spread across an 8.5" wide ride would be plenty. A lot of people run 255's on a 9" rim or even 9.5".

I have 18x8.5 +30 TE37s with 245/40 Toyo T1S right now and there is a lot of room. I am replacing them with 245/40 Falken Azenis 615s. I was looking at running a 255, but the tire OD is less than optimal and I figure the 245 Azenis will be as wide as your typical 255 if not wider. 265 is too wide for that wheel width.

As a side note, I see a lot of people on this forum going through all kinds of hell to mount the widest tire possible, but they put ~300 treadwear tires on the car. What is the point? Get a sticky tire that fits the car.

I run +30 front and back with tons of room. There is more room up front than in the rear, but I don't think that justifies two different offsets. Get +30 all the way around and you can rotate front to rear.
