new brake pads = screeching?!?

Now I know that if u have new brake pads there will be some amount of screeching but ive driving about 500 miles on the new ones and theres a great amount of screeching. I looked at my rotors and it looks like the pads are wearing down the rotors? Can anyone tell me whats wrong?

what do you mean by wearing down the rotors? rotors are given a little lip to them as they are used, and when new pads are put on, that lip is touched by the pad, sometimes causing screeching. check that out

Lip? What are you talking about? I just did a rotor & pad replacement all around on my DD and there's no squealing at all. I think that has more to do with the pads that were put on. I've got some hard *** track pads on my DSM and it squeals like a SOB on stops. THat's just the nature of the beast

Did you bed the pads correctly?

Did you use high temperature grease on the factory shims?

What kind of driving have you been doing? Pads typically don't eat at the rotor unless it's some tracking... at least they shouldn't

The main question is what kind of pads did you get?
