Braking Noise

I tried searching, but couldn't find something that answered my question. I just put on stainless lines, motul fluid, dba 4000s and hps pads on all 4 corners. I have a squealing noise coming from my front passenger side brake. It happens after I brake for the first time. The tech that put my brakes on told me that the brakes just need to be broken in a bit more, and if it happens after a little more time he'll put something on the pads to stop the squeal. Does this sound accurate? I don't want to ruin an expensive pair of pads and rotors quickly because of incompetence. The noise happens when the car is in motion, not stopping. Thanks for the help!

I have the same pads and they squealed like crazy. You have to break them in hard. The break in direction are on the box they came in. I just did like 3 three 60-20 mph stops and then did six 45-0 stops. And I mean some hard mash the brake pedal stops. And mine dont squeal anymore.

Find an empty road and bed your pads by doing like 10 40-5mph hard stops then do 8 70-5 mph hard stops. Don't touch your brakes, at all, after that for like a half hour or else you will get a pad deposit which will cause vibration at high braking speeds.

Depending on the type of pad and rotor you are using, like ie...cross drilled/slotted and hi-performance pads that are designed to get to its proper temp to start working correctly. The proper break in method is very important to seat the pad with the rotor and make you the oil was taken off the rotor before the pads were installed. I like to break in the brakes and rotors in a slow process on a empty road with no traffic start off with low speeds going up to 30 mph, 40 mph, 50 mph, 60 mph and do that a few times and let it cool down since there was a coating on the pad that needs to come off with heat. Then after I let them cool off I do the reverse....60 mph to 0, 50 mph to 0 and so on, and do that a few times. That sound from the front pass. brake might be that your caliper might not be engaging or disengaging correctly during the braking process.

I definately think they need to be broken in. I was concerned that it was something else do to it happening when the car was moving... not stopping. When I stop there is no noise. Car stops in a straight line, no issues with that. Its almost like the pads are sticking a bit, and when the brake is released it is still sitting on the rotor. Just the front passenger side though.

It was the brake guard. It was bent in a little bit and rubbed against the back of the rotor. No major damage, only a slight ring. But it was a hell of an annoying sound. Future refrence for anyone with a metal on metal brake noise, could be your brake guard.
