ORDERED: springs and wheels
just got everything up and ordered. got me a set of hyperblack SVNs 18x9 comin for my RR 9. got them with toyo t1r's 245/35/18. also ordered the eiback pro kit springs. its a 1.2 inch drop front and back. didnt want anything with too much of a drop because i dont know how it will work with the wheels and rubbing, thats one thing i dont want. i think i should be fine with this combination. springs i got cheap from gruppe s and wheels from subydude of course ill have some pics once everything is on.
SVNs - nice!
T1Rs- is it too late to cancel that order?
Eibach springs - I'm curious how you ended up with that as your choice instead of the ones we recommend over and over and over in that previous thread where you participated. The Eibach springs never entered the conversation and for good reason. Those should not be used on an Evo, imo.
If you could just get some Swift, Robi, or Works springs along with a proper set of tires, then you'd have a great setup that doesn't cost too much and serves your purposes (not racing, but having a nice-looking setup that doesn't decrease performance).

warr i went with the eibachs because i dont want the car too low. i have a friend that rocks them on his car with a similar wheel/tire set up that i have and he has no issues. the car rides decent with them on he has no problems. the eibachs have 1.2 inch drop front and rear i was worried that the 1.5 inch drop of the tanabes and other similar springs would cause me probs. the car is a daily driver for me and the last thing i need is rubbing while turning or something. im not really a huge tire guy so i went with something that had a reasonable price and seemed to have good reviews. i dont need any bfg's or anything for 220 a tire and the t1r had a lot of positive reviews with no negatives. also i got them in 245/35 and i didnt find too many decent tires in that size. im looking forward to the combination as i have yet to see a RR evo with hyperblack svn's.

None of the springs we recommended drop the car too low - that's the whole point.
You should NEVER just get something like that just because a friend has them and has "no problems." It pains me to see people do that instead of going with what the experts recommend. I'm sure your friend has no "problems," but 95% of Evo owners wouldn't know a problem if it hit them in the face when it comes to suspension mods.
We did not suggest Tanabes - we suggested Swifts, Works, or the Robi springs. They are for performance, not to "lower" the car.
The T1R are not good, but if you again aren't concerned about performance, then they should suit you fine for purposes of longevity. What made you say 220/tire for anything? Falken RT-615s are only 130/tire. I think you may have been very confused by the good tire options out there. 245/35 is also not a good size for an 18" rim on an Evo. The whole decision process here was very poor.

First of all, I think it's a waste to get an 18X8, because you're getting a larger diameter rim, which is coing to cost you a lot in terms of both the rims and 18" tires, but then you are getting the stock width. That's a big waste, because then you can't improve performance with a wider tire than stock. You end up with a rim that has weight further away from the hub, and in many case, the rim is heavier. If you don't get a wider rim, then you can't get a wider tire to increase performance. When you're done, you end up with worsened performance just because you wanted some 18" bling. I thought people got rims to improve performance while ALSO looking good. My brain can't compute spend a few grand on bigger rims/tires without improving performance.
My suggestion is an 18X9 with a 255 or 265. A 245/35 is shorter than the stock Advans (235/45), which isn't good.

Thanks Warr....appreciate the advice. Wish I had the money to fork out for 18 X 9's. I was just wondering. So many people on this forum have 18 X 8 and they're all for show. That's what my evo is not intended for. Thanks

well finally some good news while waiting for my wheels. since they have been delayed a bit subydude was cool and told me he can get me a set of springs for just above cost. so for a few bucks more than i paid for tanabes, i cancelled the order and went with some swifts.
nice save guys
. evilution i am sure you'll be happier with this in the long run. nice of warrtalon to take the time to persuade you in the right direction. many would just let you botch it all up
