tein R pillow ball mounts ?

on the stock strut top mount there is a rubber piece that holds the spring inplace inside the mount., the tein's dont have that rubber., I installed them with the rubber but it dosnt go inside so the mount sits on top of the rubber and spring which adds maybe 1/2 inch ride hight to the strut., did i install them right or should i remove that rubber piece? the car seems to ride ok this morning on my way to work. thanks in advance.

Remove it ... springs are supposed to mount directly on the upper pillow ball mounts.
