Falken Rt615 question.

Are Falken Rt615s in 255/40R17 to wide for the stock rim?? i have seen a few posts of people saying this is the size to get,

but i have also read, that to wide a tire on the stock rim, will be bad, and cut the performance, because of the side wall flexing, ??? im a tire noob... please bare with me...

my last car i didnt care about tires, because i ruined them really fast.. rwd and 500rwhp. LOL

thanks for any help

I run the 245/45/17s and love them. But the 255/40s are used quite a bit by ppl on here.
