#2, there's no such thing as 'best of both worlds'. You'll be the best at one, or the other, or decent at both. Race cars aren't anything like street cars and vice versa.
Assuming you buy higher end Ohlins, not the cheap models, the two can be very comparable in performance. In fact, its likely that the difference will be more apparent because of the skill of who sets up the suspension rather than the quality of the coilovers themselves.
Pick a suspension guy who is known for setting up suspensions. Avoid shops who's only experience in racing is putting their stickers on someone else's car.
Since you are in CA, Robi is always a good bet.
Depending on how high end you want to go, it may be possible to step up to Penskes...regardless a good tuner can recommend what works best for your budget and intended use.
