Wheel/tire question

Hi fellas

Long time reader, first time poster.

I've got an Evo 7 here in Aus, and I'm looking at chucking some nicer wheels on it. I've found some sweet Enkeis that are 18x9+15 and 18x9+30's. From what I can tell the rears would fit fine assuming I didn't run a ridiculously wide tire (I'd probably run a small spacer actually), however the fronts would rub a little bit unless I ran approx 2.5* negative camber. I've searched and searched but haven't really found anyone running this particular setup, although there are a few close setups.. Apologies for this thread, you probably get them all the time.. "Can my 19x7.5 +40's fit without rubbing???"

Consider that I only want to run max 1.5* negative camber up front (less if possible), and I'd like to keep things as standard as possible (the less body mods the better), what tire size would you suggest I run?

Also, how much work would be involved to run an 18x9+15 in the front with no scrubbing whatsoever? Would rolling the guard to get rid of the "lip" be enough? Or would the guards need to be "pumped"? Does the plastic shroud in the guard cause any issues here?

Cheers

Where'd this size come from? 19's? You know stock size is 17x8 right?

Two things:

1. Look at the Tire FAQ in this forum
2. The calculation for the overall tire diameter is

section width * section height * 2
----------------------------------------- + rim diameter
25.4

Examples:

[(235 * .45 * 2) / 25.4] + 17 = 25.326
[(255 * .40 * 2) / 25.4] + 17 = 25.031

That was a joke - I was poking fun at some of the uneducated questions you guys get asked sometimes..

Cheers.

I was just wondering if anyone has ran this combo of wheel/offset before and which tire size fit best.

on a related note, i have some 17x8.5 SSR rims with +35 offset. i was wondering if 255/40/17 will fit without rubbing, or should i go with 245/45/17 or stock 235/45/17.

My suspension is stock MR. i want to go wide, but i just dont want any rubbing.

If you haven't yet already used the equation above,

the 255/40 is the same overall diameter as the stock size--but still has a wider contact patch. The 245/45 actually has a bigger overall diameter by about 3 tenths. The stocker is the same overall diameter as the 255/40, but with a taller sidewall and less section width.

Yeah, I saw your equation and did the math. My main question is will the larger tires fit without rubbing based on my stock suspension and new rim dimensions?

Plus 15 in the front will either stick way out or give you no caliper room. That is a very aggresive offset.

Oh wow...I didn't catch the offset in the front!

Honestly, I don't know if the tires are going to rub with what you're trying to do. Sometimes you simply won't know without either 1. doing some exact measurements or 2. just trying it and see if it works.

That is a craaazy offset though.

Thanks mate - thats good to hear. How much camber are you running up front with that setup? How much clearance do you have between the guard?
