Get one and do your own alignments for life. I didn't buy their toe gauge and made one myself.

+1 on the fastrax gauge. I have checked my alignments with one of those hi--tech laser set-ups and there spot on. Just take longer to due. I used my own toe gauge for awhile then finally bought one of these

Is the Smart string system worth the cash? I've seen it before and it looks like a good setup but something that you could just make yourself for less money.

These systems are awesome, but a few things that I would recommend since this is what I do for a living:

Make sure you have good alignment done beforehand.
Make sure wherever you do the alignment is a close to perfectly flat as possible.
"Align" it (or just measure it) with your alignment tools to see how much it differs from your pro alignment
enjoy and remember that thrust angle is not your friend.

That smart string setup is expensive! wow! I think for the money the fastrax with the toegauge is almost spot on (and at almost half the cost.)
