fender rolling question

I came across a good deal on some Axis Reverd 18X9.5's. I have 15mm wheel spacers in the front, but they still rub like crazy on the fender walls. What exactly goes into fender rolling? Do they cut away at the wells, or do they roll the quarter panels out a bit, or both, or what?

If you feel inside your fender you have a metal lip on the inside which catches the tire most of the time. Youll roll that flat to give you more clearance, in extreme situations youll flex the whole fender outwards to flare your fenders more.

So if they are rubbing on the splash guards, can I just sand/cut them away? I've been reading that some people just let the tires rub through the walls, but that seems kinda lazy to me.

Yes, you could cut/sand the metal aways. Most people don't want to do that though. So they end up rolling the fender lip which bends the lip upward and out of the way. I rent out the tool if you need one

Question:

When rolling, what happens with the clips that hold the wheel well covers to the fenders? Those get rolled up too?

I don't really need to roll up the fender. I need to push the fender liners back, or modify them so that my wheels will turn all the way. My question is not whether or not to sand/cut the quarter panel itself, but whether or not to sand/cut the fender liner- inside wheel well.

You can remove the plastic completely or cut out the rubbing section.

Some have used the heat gun or torch to deform the plastic instead of cutting it out.

Ya that might be a good idea. Make sure you are no where near you brake lines and other parts your car needs.

What? Who needs brake lines? Maybe I'll just burn a hole in my floorboards while I'm at it and just stop with my feet.

I would use (and have used) a heat gun for this, not a torch!

First I trimmed them where they stick out and then I used the heat gun. I probably spent around 30 minutes actually doing the work and 90 minutes staring at it and trying to figure out what to do.

Yeah, that's probably what I'll spend most of my time on, just staring at the thing. Thanks!
