Rear Strut Bar On SSL?

Hey guys,

Just wondering if there is a specific rear strut bar that works well with the stock subwoofer? Thanks.

Damian.

from what I gather it's either take it out, move it..or try to modify it? I just got my rear cusco strut and I'm going to attempt the mod...

I'll be brainstorming some options tonight and probably through the weekend, no rush, but would definitely like to have the strut bar in there along with keeping the stock sub (i'm not crazy in to all sorts of stereo systems, for me the stock system with a pioneer HU is perfect)

Me too. I just hate how the back dash rattles so much.

I've done it. i'm running the cusco bar. It's the flat one.

You basically have to either fabricate new mounting pieces or butcher the current ones holding the sub in place. The sub, stock, is mounted in three places. The way i have mine setup it only mounts in 2(i hope my memory is right on this, did it a long time ago). You basically have to pivot the sub so that the strut bar can clear. Then you have to somehow remount the sub. It's not that hard. i had to bend one of the mounting brackets, switch it's placement and drill a hole in another to line up correctly.

I referenced a thread when i did it. I Suggest searching harder and you'll find at least 2 other people that have done this

Shinnster, I also have the cusco rear strut and was planning on doing something similar to what you have done, I have tried searching and found nothing really relevant, tried searching everything from rear strut to custom subwoofer, rear strut and ssl, etc. Do you have any pics of your set up you could post or pm me? TIA

I'll try and take some pics and post them up.

Got a question tho... How clean of an install are you looking for here.

Mine looks clean enough that nothing looks out of place. but if you look really closely at the install it looks like it was done simply.

I'll try and take the pics tonight.

I mean I'd like it to be at least decent, I dont really need like totally professional looking, just looking to keep stocker and not mod too much, sounds like you were on a similar boat, so I'll be interested to see the result. thanks again man, some pics would be greatly appreciated

shinnster, thanks a lot for the pics, I like the idea of just rotating it slightly and squeezing the strut behind it...I'm going to try somethings this weekend and see what I like best.. I'll try to keep this thread updated if I further the ideas
