Beware of tiresdelivered.com!!!

Hey guys, this is just a warning for those of you looking to purchase wheels/tires in the future. I'm not an Evolution owner, but I do look on your forum constantly. Hopefully with the Evo X hitting the market I can pickup a IV for a fair price. DON'T USE Tiresdelivered.com, my experience has been horrible with this company. The customer service department won't return my calls or emails, and when I finally get ahold of them on the phone I'm getting the run around.

Like many of the members on this board I saved up for months to get enough extra cash to purchase a set of summer wheels. I finally bought my wheels on July 17, 2007 but they didn't get put on the car till August 3, 2007. Everything was fine until November 17 when I removed the wheels for winter storage. They wouldn't come clean around the base of each spoke, but upon further inspection the wheels are pitting. The bare metal is showing through the chrome, it's almost like they didn't use enough chrome when dipping the wheel. They were on my car less than 4 full months and now they are ruined. The wheels are Motegi DP6 Chrome (Motegi is owned by American Racing), and at American Racing they have a 2 year warranty on all chrome wheels. This was confirmed with an American Racing representative directly. The representative tells me that they (American Racing) don't deal direct with the public, so I have to go through the warehouse that I purchased the wheels from. I called Tires Delivered 3 times the week of January 20. I am being told that American Racing is "reviewing" the case, but right now they are not going to be able to do anything. I have spoken with two members of the customer service department at Tires Delivered (Cody and Brandon). These two are no help at all, so I ask to speak with a member of management. Each time I call Tires Delivered tells me the manager is being told by American Racing that nothing can be done. Each time I have asked to speak with a member of management, but they are in meetings with the phone company, IT department, out to lunch......basically they aren't taking care of this problem. I was told on January 23 that I would receive and email on January 25 updating me on the progress of the "case" with American Racing. I'm still waiting for an email! I called yesterday to speak with Management, but as usual they are in meetings with their advertising agency.

I have attached pics so you can see the "evidence" supposedly being shown to American Racing. It wouldn't surprise me if they haven't even mentioned this to American Racing. I think Tires Delivered just doesn't want to come off of a set of 4 wheels, even though their policy states they will replace damaged wheels. Please spread the news to your other friends if they are thinking of purchasing wheels from Tiresdelivered.com. As the days pass the anger builds and the thought of my $1300 going down the drain only add to the frustration. Don't let these guys scam you too, don't buy from tiresdelivered.com!!!

Now please see the attached pics and tell me what you guys think.

All chrome wheels I've seen start peeling and the chrome just starts falling off in a few years. Four months do seem a bit early but im not surprised at all that it happened.

It's American Racing's wheel. The vendor isn't gonna have to come out of pocket for the wheel, they'll get a new one from AR. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Keep bugging AR.
If the wheels were delivered to you at your address, go down to your local courthouse, spend the $45 (varies) and file a small claims case against them both. You'll get a date within 45 days. Bring the wheel, a copy of their warranty, written documentation of your correspondence with both, and bingo bofo, you get your money back-which is prolly what you'll want if your wheels are crap.

This thread isn't going to go anywhere useful, unfortunately.

I bought a set from a discount local shop like pep boys on my first car 10 years ago. 1 year later, peeling. Lesson learned, i guess; I had them powdercoated and didn't look back.

Tirerack ftw.

I'm friends with Cody and Brandon. Here is Tires Delivered's response to this thread.....

Us here at Tires Delivered (www.tiresdelivered.com) are rather confused as to why one individual would post such negative things about us when we've tried our best to get this warranty covered. We are always in the best interest of our customers. We handled this customer's situation by the book. We are not the ones who decide whether or not an item is warrantable (as stated in our terms and conditions at www.tiresdelivered.com/termsandconditions.php), it is the manufacturer. We ask for pictures, then submit them to the manufacturer for review. If it is warrantable, we will gladly take them back and exchange them for another set. No skin off our back! What do we have to lose? Unfortunately, this customer that is obviously out to "tell the world how bad of a company we are" didn't get what he wanted and is mad. I don't blame him, when I think something should go my way and it doesn't, I get upset as well. We don't build the custom wheels we sell, we are an internet / mail order retailer. If the manufacturer will not credit us for a set of wheels that are clearly "non warrantable", then why should we reimburse or replace a set of wheels at our cost? We didn't make that wheel. One thing you'll notice in American Racing's as well as in our terms and conditions, "pitting" is not covered in any warranty. "Pitting" or corrosion of the wheel ONLY occurs with lack of maintenance. Chrome wheels MUST be cleaned regularly, and brake dust & road salt must be taken off immediately to prevent what we call corrosion, but what is also known as pitting. I hope this customer is satisfied with his venting, but nothing was done wrong on this end. We have worked very hard to build our reputation. I'm not typing this because I fear a loss of sales, as we are busier than ever, but I feel that anyone reading this must look at what really happened, how these warranties really work, and how far one disgruntled customer is willing to go to stir things up.

I encourage all to go to http://www.tiresdelivered.com/ARE%20PDF.pdf to clearly see American Racing's warranty policy. It clearly states that "pitting" is NOT covered by any kind of warranty (they sometimes call it corrosion). This is a large file, so be patient, and if the whole sheet does not pull up, please scroll up and down until it does. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
Thank you for reading my post...

I'm still awaiting an email or phone call from Tiresdelivered.com to update me on a situation with my wheels. This post was not put up out of anger, I just don't want the same thing to happen to another person on the board who saves up money for months and ends up getting a bad product with a bad warranty. I have spoken with Tiresdelivered on 5 occasions over the last 3 weeks. As I stated, I haven't received the email updating me on the situation with my wheels. Brandon promised on Wednesday, January 23 that he would send the email on Friday January 25 updating the progress of the "case" with American Racing.........................as I said I'm still waiting.

My third call to Tiresdelivered resulted in Brandon telling me (the consumer) to call American Racing direct to determine what needed to be done with my wheels. Upon calling the number I was told by Charles that they only deal with warehouses or third parties and do not communicate directly with the public. Charles (the AR rep) did however tell me that there is a two year warranty on chrome, regardless of what I may be being told. He states it is up to Tiresdelivered to work out a deal with me to exchange the wheels with something comparable. Looking at this from my perspective it seems Tiresdelivered is simply blowing me off. I can't say that I'm not shocked that a vendor has a troll on the boards trying to keep the image of the company in the best shape it can be, especially given the way I have been ignored.

The best advice I can give based upon my dealings with Tiresdelivered is not to use them for your wheel/tire needs. I have been getting the run around for 3 weeks and speaking with a manager with these guys is nearly impossible. (Meetings, meetings, meetings!) Again, based on my dealings with this company I wouldn't use them in the future, therefore my recommendation would be for others to use caution.
