Rear brake calipers
Rear brake calipers
I've tried searching the forums, and I can't find the information I'm needing;
Is there a special tool required for pushing in the rear pistons on the stock rear calipers on an Evo IX? I know that the rear threaded pistons on most cars with rear disks are for the Emergency brake ratchet system, but since we have internal drums for the Ebrake, I'm not sure if it will have a similar rachet style piston.
The factory service manual does not explicitly show whether or not a tool is needed, just a picture of the caliper with 3 holes clearly shown in the face, such as a typical tool needed.
Thanks!

Yes the piston needs to be compressed (front and back) to get new pads in the calipers. I own the correct tool since it was cheap and made the job super easy. You can buy the tool for about $10 at an autopart store. kind of an inverse C clamp.
