Installed brake pads

Is it normal for Hawk Brake pads to squeel after they are put on. Right when i put them on i first heard a grinding noise and then after driving around for awhile the grinding was gone but if i lightly ease the brakes at 5 mph i hear a squeeling noise. Will that go away after driving for awhile and breaking them in?

Did you bed them in properly? Apply hi-temp grease where necessary? Use shims?

I have the HPS pads. They were noisy after install; however after a short period of normal daily use the noise totally disappeared.

I jjust got the hawk ceramics and they squeel like crazy too. The only way to not have the be loud when coming to a stop is to stop hard every time. I think part of my problem is i didnt get the rotors turned and i have big lips on the outsides of each of them. These brake pads are bigger? then the stock one or atleast the grab at the end of the rotor more. All 4 brake pads now have a groove in them and i think this is causing the loud noise. Were your rotors turned?

It is normal for them to squel after being installed. Mine did for about the first 1000 miles or so. 25k later and no noise at all now. Just stick with them it will go away.

I just had new pads installed and I'm going through the same hell squeals every time I lightly brake! I had my rotors turned and that cut the problem in half, but they still make a little noise, everyday it seems to get a little better, my friend says they just need to brake in a bit! GL

Honestly it sounds like a bedding issue. There's a good how to somewhere on here.

take them apart, lube back of pad as well as sides, lube the pin and top of piston.
reassemble.
Next accelerate to 65mph ease into the breaks putting as much force as you can without kicking the ABS into play. Bring the speed down to 5-10mph and do not stop.
Repeat the above process 6 times and allow brakes to cool while cruising.
The noise will subside.
My Ferodos where extremely loud, I lubed them and re-bedded them and they dont make a peep.

I went out and purchased the permatex copper anti-seize. It comes with the applicator brush on the cap. took them apart. cleaned the hell out of them. cleaned the calipers of any build up on the inside and reassembled with them hi temp stuff. its only been a day but they are not squeeling yet.

+1.

It is important to bed in the pads, and it does help to keep the noise down a tad
