Front Ball Joint Replacement - Warning
If you press the Whiteline boot all the way down against the ball joint, it should seal. There will still be a gap between the boot and LCA, but no gap will exist between the boot and ball joint.
Yeah, that's where they start off anyway. They end up working themselves up and over the lip of the ball joint eventually for me.
Hate to bump an almost year old thread but
Moog does NOT have a new part number -- I called them and they had no idea the evo was different from the base lancer...
Wow - - wtf.
As of today -- Advance, Checkers, Autozone, Napa and posisblly carquest all have that wrong parts instock. Made by different companies - Moog, Federal, Duralast, etc.

Is the boot replaceable??? im sure it isnt hard. Is there a specific tool used?? or is it one of those things where you just put it on and put the rest of the parts back on and it will install itself??
I have a low mileage car and my ball joint but the boot is torn.
Can you get a new rubber boot for the ball joint from the dealer?
Does anyone know how to remove the old boot and put the new one on?

I actually JUST replaced my balljoints last night with whiteline's kit. I have 2 boots in good condition you can have. You just pop them off with a screw driver and push the new ones on.
Hey guys, Im lookin for a write up on this install. There is no shops around here I would trust other than myself. I have an evo 9 rs, and need new ball joints. Well.. actually 1, but Im on swift springs so id like to correct some of the bad ju ju lowering while Im at it.
The thing that gets me is you say they are not symmetrical. is that based on an axial view or radius type view. Thank you for the time. Please post some responses!

So can you use the White line kit on a car that isn't slammed? My car is lowered on Eibach springs, unsure if they are Prokit or Sportlines. My front drivers side lower control arm is bent from the previous owner, I got a used one but the ball joint is trashed so I pressed it out. The ball joint on the bent arm is good, but I don't think I can press it out without damaging it.
You should be able to press out the old ball joints without damaging them. Cutting that "crimp" off on the lower arm would make pressing it out a lot easier, and lessen the likelihood of damaging it.

Worse comes to worse - your not any worse off if you try.
Remove retaining clip, and grind/cut(optional) off the crimp and press slowly.
Yes call the dealer I purchased two boots for about $15 each. You can buy just the boot. And to answer someone elses question I just used a socket to tap the boot on it has a steel ring around the base.
