For those with slotted rotors...

Have you noticed that you get less bite when you brake after you changed your rotors? Perhaps its just me, but I feel that I've lost that instant brake power when compared to stock. Perhaps you exchange bite for overall cooling and consistency with slotted rotors? Opinions and experiences shared please!

Did you also change pads?

Did you change or bleed fluid?

I know that many times after you change much of anything you must re-bed the pads at the very least to get good performance and without doing that you will not get the performance you expect.

If you simply let them bed without forcing the process the improved braking you get over time will not be easily noticed.

I agree. You have to let the pads (new or used) to bed into the rotor and apply a thin layer of pad material into the rotor. Only then will the pads work 100%. If the are new pads, some companies make their pad slightly rounded. So you have to wear them in some to get them to be 100% flush to the rotor.

What pad?

I did bed them per Stoptech instructions to the T. The only thing I can think of is bleeding the brakelines.

But what I am saying is that it usually takes 500 miles of street driving before they are fully bedded together. Bedding the pads gets heat into them and sets the material.

What pads?

I have slotted rotors; and did not experience this. After install, I drove about 300 easy street miles and then it was on the track.

I also was bedding in new pads though - new pads to me as well - so I wasn't real sensitive to the exact braking force.

Definitely, definitely bleed those brakes!

Seating PADS

I have the PF 2 piece Dimpled and the stoptech slotted rears... I installed all new pads (OEM ones were finally gone 35K) The braking is amazing way better over the Stock rotors and pads... but i have Super Blue in the system and SS Brake lines too...

Slotted will help with build up of the gas under hard braking they are not going to BITE hard just driving around like normal... on the track/autocross is where you will see the most improvement...

Cross Drilled ones are ALL BAD for the track, great for normal driving and in WET...

just throwing my 2 cents in...

thanks...

Pads are Ferrodo 2500. I bedded them as instructed and they have over 1K miles on them. I just test drove a 135i here locally and I was amazed at how the bite on the brakes were so good and I distinctly remember how good I had it when I first had the evo. So what you guys are saying is that the bite should be much improved over stock? Rotors are slotted only, BTW.

Did you wash the new rotors with soap and water?
