E-brake light on dash?

Ok, so this morning I got in my car to come to work. I was leaving my apartment and I noticed that when I would hit my brakes while coming to the speedbumps, that the brake light on the dash that lights up when you apply the E-brake would come on and go off. Almost everytime I would hit the brakes the light came on, then go off a second or two after I let off. The brakes seem so to work just fine, and the problem quit after a few miles of driving. I know im ready for some new brake pads, but really I wouldnt think that would be what causes this. I never really thought that was a warning light so much as just an indicator that your E-brake is engaged. Anyone ever seen anything like this before?

That light comes on wether the ebrake is up or if your brake fluid is low.
Three things that could be your issue.

1. Hand brake switch is defective (extremely unlikely)
2. Your pads are low and the level in the master cylinder went down.
3. You have a leak in your braking system.

Doesn't sound like anything serious, pretty common actually. If you know you have to change the pads soon, do that and check and your brake fluid level. This is the most common solution to the problem.

Thanks. I'll try that. Im sure its just that the pads are low and it might need a little bit of fluid. I appreciate the input.
