We dont list the Blues on the site because they are a dedicated track pad only. Because of this, we dont want people purchasing them by accident thinking they are street pads. Sort of a specialty item you could say. Currently, I only see the rears available, but I am trying to track down the front application.

**UPDATE**
Fresh from my brake specialist. EBC has already developed a pad for the front of the EVO, Hawk is currently finishing up their R&D on the pads for the front of this car. It looks as if Hawk will have their product available middle to late fall of this year.....

i have a set of ebc blue's that someone from tirerack sold to me........ first there was too much pad and wouldn't fit... so I had to grind them down with a belt sander (yummy)..... i didn't even get the backing plates in.....

anyway.... they suck..... they are very similar to the stock pads...... I have used Pather+ on my Hybrid Civic and Porterfield R4s's on my S2000's..... and they are much better than the EBC's that I currently have on the Evo....

I have hawk HPS on the rear...... the combo is basically on par with my stock pads....... not worth the $200+ i spent.

The stock pads are extremely good. Stainless steel lines and better fluid are probably the better initial upgrades.

No doubt the stock pads are good! Several track days have proven this to me. The only downside to the stock pads, they don't last more than one track day if it's a track with a lot of braking.

I'd like to have a pad I can switch at the track that will bite harder with initial application, a bit easier to modulate, and that will last longer under high heat, high load use.

carbotech

I plan on replacing my stock pads with pads form Carbotech when I finish them (or sooner). I had Panther Plus pads on my previous car and loved them. They have pads for Evo's now, about $200 for the front and $100 for rears depending on compound. I have other friends who do lots of trackdays and have used their pads and been really happy as well. Just my 2 cents.

you state that there are pads out there that you guys sell, yet the only pad on the website you have for the front is EBC red(junk) and it doesnt fit properly. So my options are those carbotech pads or Ferodo, both of which go for $200. Nice find guy

Hawk has their HPS Street pads and HP Plus track day compound pads available. EBC also has their Greenstuff street pads which are similar to the Hawk HPS. EBC's trackday compound Redstuff is also produced, these are similar to Hawk HP Plus. Hawks have a Ferrocarbon base to them, EBC uses a Kevlar base. Both have very low dust and squeel factor. I personally use the Hawk pads on my car and I like them a lot. Hawks will run around $70-90 a pair depending on what type you go with, EBC runs $99-120 range. Hope you can sleep a bit better at night now

superz- You might want to scroll up toward the top of the page and read my post stating that Hawk is currently producing a front application for this car. Currently, they have rear pads out for this car, but not fronts. We do not show the full set on the site because Hawk does not offer the same pad for all 4 corners.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion on what pad works best, I was just stating what was available from the vendors we work with. There was a fitment issue with the EBC pads when the car first came out. Since then, the fitment has been corrected and I have not had any reports of them not working. Did you take any steps with the vendor to fix the problem before bad mouthing them on internet boards? Did EBC or the company you purchased them from send you another set that did work? It might be best to provide full details of the situation before flaming me and EBC.

actually, I have bought 2 sets of EBC pads in the past. The first set showed 4mm left of material with only 6000 miles of regular street driving. I figured it was my driving, so I ordered a second set of "green version 2" (or something like that) from the Tire Rack. When I went to replace the front pads I came across cracks all over the pads, this with normal street driving. I had no choice but to slap the new set on and hoped that the improved version would solve these shortcomings. Well, after 1 day at a driving school at Limerock these pads were once again worn down to nothing, cracked all over and I was out for a new set of pads. These experiences give me the right to FLAME on EBC pads. Maybe you like them, I just dont. If did forget to mention that Im looking for Front pads for my EVO asap. Hawk doesnt have anything now, so other than a set of EBC pads the Tire Rack cant help me right now. Thanks anyhow.

It is true, EBC pads do wear a bit quicker than other brands, but what concerns me is the application in which you used the greenstuff pads. They are designed for mild performance street driving, not track driving like at Limerock. Even EBC redstuff is not approved for heavy track driving, but instead your weekend autocross events. It is unfortunate you had a bad experience with the pads, however, I dont think the right kind of pad was used for the right application.

I'm going to just go ahead and try the Endless CC-X pad. I also put in an e-mail with Performance Friction Japan to see if PF USA carries the pad they sell for the EVO in Japan.

A few things: please keep flames to a minimum.

-I am not aware that Hawk has the correct pad yet for the Evo. I *think* the F40/F50 Brembo pad technically fits and works, but I can't really recommend that, and neither should anyone else. It's much shorter and you lose a lot of contact area. BTW, we do carry the Hawk brand and have access to all their pads.

-I cannot understand how EBC can still sell a brake pad in this country. I had the *exact* same experience with Reds 2+ years ago (60 track miles burned to the backing plate) and have told everyone that will listen long enough to avoid them like the plague. Even if they are given to you for free you are being ripped off. I saw an Eclipse guy at Summit Pt. burn completely through a set of greens in 1 session (20 miles). The yellow stuff wore better for me (couldn't possibly wear any quicker), but a fresh set was still completely gone in a weekend. Not to mention I had to move my braking points 200 feet back because the friction coefficient was so lousy.

-Our street pad for the Evo retials at $159. Our outstanding race materials for track use are ~$200.

Thank you.

Matt

PFC does indeed have the EVO pad. They are not cheap (~$250 IIRC). I know they are availible in their 01 compound and I think 97 as well. Don't know what else. We also are a distributor of PFC products.

A few years ago I had an Evo 5 and drove it at a few track days. I had brake judder problems back then. There were all sorts of people complaining about warped rotors on the lancerregister.com. Some company (Dragon Motorsport? Zinn something?) was selling mintex pads (1144 or 1155 or something, hm, maybe F4R) that were machined a bit. They took off 8mm on the inside radius. There were people using the F40 pads. My last set of pads on that car were Porterfield R4 that were sized for the F40. They were shorter pads than the stock ones, and you didn't use the surface area on the inside 8-10mm on the rotor. And those warped some new rotors on the track too. But I think all sorts of people were using those F40 pads too, and claiming it reduced warping.

I'll be going with some Carbotech pads next. Those were great on my last car.
