Brakes Help!!!!!
I bought 4 cross drilled and slotted rotors and pads from Brake planet's ebay page, they have been squeaking ever since day one, I also get a lot of brake dust, I always tought with cross drilled and slotted rotors you werenot supposted to get so much brake dust, u think it has to do with the brand, any suggtions out there, I am really frustated with the squeaking and all the brake dust. thanx a lot.
Hmmm I've never heard of slotted/drilled brakes helping with brake dust..That is souly your pads and has nothing to do with your disc's. Did you put the OEM hard ware back on? You really should have done more research before buying your brakes, this is an important part of driving and you can never be too carefull
Do you know if they are ceramic pads? They are better for less noise and dust. Also spraying the back of the pads with some disc brake quiet. It's a blue sticky spray that helps prevents the pads from vibrating.

I pretty sure they r ceramic pads they came with the rotors, where can i get the spray? I've looked at auto zone & napa and they said they do not have it. The steering wheel on my evo now is also vibrating a lot when I driving over 45 mph and then suddenly brake, do u know if these is an indication of warp rotors?, mine are not even a year old. Thanx a lot for ur time. By the way hablas espanol?
When you had the brakes installed, did you remember to apply high temp grease behind the pads? If not, that could be the cause of your squeaking issue. With the brake dust, thats just normal...unless you have a more than average amount than it could probably be due to the combo of having slotted/drilled and the pads, or the pads just have high brake dust. The brake experts will recommend that you don't need slotted/drilled rotors. Blanks should be plenty good for road and track use.

Discs may also be slotted, where shallow channels are machined into the disc to aid in removing dust and gas. Slotting is the preferred method in most racing environments to remove gas, water, and de-glaze brake pads. Some discs are both drilled and slotted. Slotted discs are generally not used on standard vehicles because they quickly wear down brake pads; however, this removal of material is beneficial to race vehicles since it keeps the pads soft and avoids vitrification of their surfaces.

they are slightly lighter than regular rotors, but by far their largest benefit is that they dissipate heat much, much better. allowing them to work better, longer, without as much fade.

This basically summs it up in the real world (as opposed to the theoretical one):

The first step is to determine what type of brakes you have on your car now. Then assess what you would like to improve, along with any tradeoffs you are willing to make to gain the things you want more of.

When installing pads on the Evo, apply liberal amounts of high temp grease on the backs of the pads and both sides of ths shims, pins, etc. But if you have hawk pads then your gonna squeak anyhow.
