a few things on this. firstly the nut section is a 3/8", so your evo friendly metric tools will strip.

secondly don't turn it any more than 1/8 turn, bascially BREAK the bolt... adn then start pumping... any more and you will suck air through the threads.

thirdly... i highly do not recommend DEPENDING on these, they're great for insurance... but i've bled my brakes 4 times now and i'm kinda pissed after 6 bottles of motul.

mind you this is the SECOND (second overall time) time i've done it with speed bleeders as the first time i only messed up twice.

 

I just did this on Sunday when I put my summer wheels back on. Had to go to 3 different PepBoys stores to get enough bleeders because each store only stocks a maximum of 2 packs of p/n: 12706. The one store had an extra bleeder in a pack that someone opened so I got that one for free . I tried it out on the clutch slave and it works so I kept it in there. Clutch pedal feels is much better now. I guess the 1/2 dozen times I bleed the clutch line before still didn't get all the air out.

The procedure was very straight forward. Previously when I bleed the system about 6 months ago I thought I had all the air out of the lines but it turns out I didn't. Now I can honestly say my EVO is stopping like it should be .

I have a track day coming up in November that I'm going to try some high performance brake fluid for. Currently I'm using a run of the mill brand which exceeds dot 3 & 4 specs.

Did you bleed your brakes with the engine idling? I am getting frustrated bleeding my brakes (I have speedbleeders), still have a low, soft pedal after 2 rounds of bleeding, but I haven't tried bleeding with the engine idling as per the service manual.

 

no the engine was off. make sure the speed bleeders are all the way tightened down...

 

Back from the dead. The NAPA part number for the clutch slave, shows a 37mm length. ANy thoughts?

People still using the speed bleeders?

 

Yo triny, what do you mean by not depending on these? Did they not work for ya? The other option is to get the Motive pressure bleeder.

I see the part numbers mentioned in this thread correspond to an M10x1 --- but someone mentions an M11?

 

I had to revisit this thread because I want to bleed my clutch and brakes, and lo and behold, I had posted the part numbers I installed in my Evo! I never had a problem with the speed bleeders.
