Lip on Rotor

I am been looking at replacing my HPS pads since they were getting thin last time I checked. I happened to notice there is a lip on the edge of my rotors - about half the thickness of a quarter. They all seem to have it but the rears are more pronounced. I have never noticed this before. I say this is not normal but I really did not think the HPS pads would eat into the rotors like that.

This is on an 03 Evo VIII and the rotors have 75k on them. The previous owner put the pads on but I have no idea if he had the rotors resurfaced. The rotors have what appears as minimal grooving but I figured this was really just brake material?

I am considering just getting new rotors but I am not sure if that lip is normal. Other than that, they don't look real bad. I figure 75k for the OEM set ain't bad though. The car is never raced and is my DD.

Any thoughts.
Thanks

Normal.

Off the Rotor Resurfacing sticky:

"2. Rotor scoring due to poor pad formulation, etc. Even then, GM's recommendation is to check the depth with a penny and if you can still see the top of Lincolns head then they are okay (believe it or not!)"

Your O.K., the rotors are just showing their age.

Your rotors have 75K on them, for the love of god buy new ones. If it has a big lip chances are they need to be replaced no matter the age and/or the mileage.
Yours are past due @ 75k, buck up.

measure the rotor thickness

Get a micrometer and measure the thickness of the rotor. Make sure you don't measure the lip. If the measurment is within spec, you do not need to replace your rotors. Going off memory here, my rotora rotors min spec is 28.9mm.
