ride height fix/problems
so...the previous owner lowered the car using H&R springs and yea..i couldnt avoid hitting this pothole going 25mph no matter what i did. and bam half the bumper lip on the left side is gone...yea.....this is getting really annoying now and i need to raise the height anyway for winter. so a couple of newb questions since i cant seem to find the answer searching:
1) how much are the OEM springs and how much would the labor usually be? like gimme a good price so the shop doesnt screw my wallet's *** hard.
2) is it just the springs that affect the ride height or the struts too?
3) if i raise the car back up will the ride be a little smoother? lol...just out of curiousity
thanks guys appreciate the help

I think the problem is more NYC roads than it is the springs. I try to avoid driving in NYC at all costs with the Evo.
I do not bother with ride height in the winter. And previous 2 winters where in MI. And my car is 3in off the deck in the front since I also have a CF lip. In my experience, being lowered with the lip doesn't really matter. I do snow plow if the snow is above 4in but no ill effects.
1) Probably looking at 3-4 hrs labor. 3(or 4)x80 = 240-320.
2) Yes, the springs denote ride height
3) OE springs are softer than the H/Rs. So yes - less harsh, more body roll.

from my understanding, the OE springs are softer but they have alot more travel so its ok. most will say H/R's are too soft for the amount they drop... not as bad as tein s-type but still alil too soft

One thing I did not mention. But you could always go to a narrower, taller, winter tire. It will raise the car up some and give you better traction to miss those sink-holes NYC is infamous for.
