magic pads clunk?

CHECK POST 16 for almost 2 weeks worth of driving review!

hey guys.

i just finished installing Giro disc's Magic pads on the F&R of my car. new brembo rotors and all.

so my question is, on the test drive(first time out with them), when i apply the brakes, the pedal is hard, but the breaking is surprisingly weak. and if i am slowing quickly i get a "clunk, clunk..clunk" from the front right side.

anybody else experience this?

Yes, i jacked it up and made sure all the caliper bolts/suspension bolt/ and the brake spring was in and seated correctly.

Thanks!

lots of pads clunk on the rear.. Mine does it just like evascst..

When stopping, then going forward, the rears have the habit of clunking (I guess there's some front/back play in the pads somewhat swimming between the pad-guides).

there is actually a thread where a member measured his hawk pads to the stock brembo pads and there was mm's of difference causing the pad to shift. if i find the thread again ill post it here, otherwise search for "pad clunk"

Mine do the same thing, though it's more of a light knock. It's the pads shifting because they're smaller than stock.

^ well thats ****ty. these pads got all the hype and they ride like this?? kinda makes me want a refund...

the install is perfect. took them out and put them back in again and checked up on things along the way. it still happens.

i wonder if Girodisc Martin wants to clear this up because the stocker brembos were better than this.

I installed magic pads two months ago - reused the stocker metal shims mounted with the arrows pointing the appropiate way - a little grease on the piston. The result is no noise at all.

so use the oem shims on top of the magic's? they said their own shims are "the best".
