alignment before or after new wheels?

hey i just put my swifts on and am about to put my new wheels on in a week or so.

Out of curiosity does it matter if i get an alignment before the new wheels? or should i wait to get them on before i go for an alignment? is there a difference?

Correct, settings shouldn't change. Alignment is set at the hub. But you can do it after if you wanted.

always make adjustments a AFTER your new parts are added, kind of a rule of thumb really. although new wheels shouldnt make any difference.

I assume you mean diameter. No because aligment is done from the center of the hub. But there would be some other concerns and adjusments on a wider wheel.

If you change the offset by a lot it will affect the alignment by cambering the wheels in. If your toe changes because of camber change (and on an Evo it does), that will go out of whack too. These changes will most likely be negligible for small changes in track, but I've seen it ruin a set of tires on a Miata that put on positive offset wheels.

As long as you're not adding more than an inch or so of track, it won't be a big deal. If it was my car, I'd do the alignment afterwards though.
