Choosing coilover spring rates for your EVO
I have been looking for a good DD set up also. Haven't really seen anyone give a straight answer on a good DD spring rate set up. What are your thoughts on BC coil overs? Don't have the money for a high dollar set up. I mostly DD and sometimes go to the strip. So I would need a good set up for them conditions. Been trying to find out what spring rate AWD Motorsports use on their D2's.

GTWorx and some of the other more experience road racers on here will tell you for what you want coilovers aren't for you. A good spring and strut setup will work fine.

Guys, I was wondering what does one do when the factory suspension has started to give way? I mean since I AM gonna be buying new parts, might as well get a coilover kit, given I might be lookin at more $$ to spend in order to get coilovers. Since I dont go to auto X and my ride is a daily driver which often has 3 passengers, I was wondering which coilovers to get. My biggest concern is ride quality. I want it to be better or softer than the factory EVO suspension. What spring rates would you recommend?

I think the consensus by now would be that if you're not going to race your Evo, a good set of struts and springs are all that you need. Cheap coilovers still cost more than a set of struts and springs and won't perform as well, especially for street use. If I was in your shoes, I'd go with a set of Bilstein struts and Swift sport springs. /case closed.

Unlike many ppl here, I did take the time out to read the entire post, but what I wanted to ask was which coilover kit rides the softest on its softest settings. And since ppl were saying that you should get custom spring rates for the rear as well, that is why I asked for the Spring rates for my specific use. I WANT COILOVERS. I could have bought the MR bilstein shocks and used some custom springs as well but I WANT to use coilovers so I have flexibility as I might do some straight line drag racing on the street and would like to adjust the settings for better launches i.e. softer rear suspension settings for squating and harder settings for the front. Just a simple question really. Which coilovers ride the softest on their softest damping settings?
Sorry for asking noob questions but right now the guy i know is offering me 4 options. HKS HIPERMAX III, Tein FLEX, Tein Super Street and Bilstein PSS9. Since I am looking for the most comfortable ride, which of these would best suit me?
